Biography
Name:
Ayrton Senna da Silva
Nickname:
Ayrton Senna
Date of Birth: 21st March 1960
Nationality: Brazilian
Place of Birth: São Paulo, Brazil.
Ayrton
Senna was a triple Formula One World Champion and considered by
many to be the greatest racing driver of all time, although after
the successful career of Michael Schumacher that may now be in
question. But what will never be questioned is Ayrton Senna's
amazing gift for driving.
Senna
was born to a wealthy Brazilian landowner and he was thus lucky
enough to be able to develop an interest in motor racing, particularly
when his father encouraged him due to him own love of motor sport.
He began his illustrious career at the age of 4 in karting, but
it was not until he was 13 that he was able to enter karting competitions.
Although Ayrton was karting for many years he never won the World
Karting Championship, although he was runner up several times.
By the
age of 21 he had headed for Europe and entered the British Formula
Ford 1600 competition.
